VADODARA, Jan 18: The M S University needs to impart quality education rather than qualitative education, Vice-Chancellor of M S University Anil Kane said at a programme organised by the Vadodara centre of the IGNOU on Monday.
Kane said, “Though this university is the largest one in the state yet it was sad that the university authorities were concentrating more on granting admissions to more students rather than imparting quality education”.
Citing the Faculty of Commerce Kane said, “The number of students admitted in this faculty is more than its capacity of accommodation”. Kane said that the authorities would see to it that they would curtail admissions in this faculty to ensure quality education.
Speaking on the occasion, pro vice-chancellor Deepak Kumar De said, “Open education is complementary to the conventional education system.” Reputed journalist Manu Shroff said the open education system gave an exposure to the students through advanced technology. “Being an expensive mode of education, the learners should make the most out of it, to widen their horizon in terms of knowledge and information,” said Shroff.
