NEW DELHI, October 12: There is no better person than Kapil Dev, the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, to talk about the importance of fast bowling. On Monday morning, while launching a new bowling machine at the Gyan Bharati School, the former India skipper stressed the importance of the machine in helping young batsmen `set their eyes in'.``Facing balls that come at a set-speed from the machine, aspiring batsmen will have a fair measure of the kind of pace bowling they would face in higher grade of cricket. They would know what real pace is all about,'' the master paceman said.Kapil lauded the efforts of the school management, South Delhi Cricket Coaching Centre and especially former India cricketer Gursharan Singh, for providing latest technology and facilities for young and budding cricketers. ``I would recommend that more and more schools take the initiative and purchase similar machines to update young batsmen about the importance of facing fast bowling,'' he added.Kapil also inaugurated the third Bon-Ton inter-school cricket tournament at the school grounds, which has four turf wickets for practice as well. Cricketers including Ajay Jadeja, Maninder Singh and Vivek Razdan frequent the centre to inspire the trainees.Bishan Singh Bedi was among the large guests present on the occasion.
