BELGAUM, NOVEMBER 15: The tussle was between bat and ball allright. But in focus was which would fare worse on a day of appalling cricket in the South Zone Ranji Trophy tie between Karnataka and Andhra at the Union Gymkhana grounds on Wednesday.

If the bowling by and large looked pedestrian, the batting contrived to look worse on a pitch that was decidedly two-paced. At the end of 90 overs, it was the visitors from Andhra who had better reason to smile. On batting first, they pieced together 195 runs and had Karnataka at a dicey 90 for four at

stumps.

Brief Scores: Andhra (Ist Inns): 195 all out (Venugopal 42, Shahbuddin 33, Dodda Ganesh 2-36, Mansoor Ali Khan 3-48, Santosh Vodeyaraj 3-41) Karnataka (1st Inns): 90 for 4 (Arunkumar 27, Barrington 23, Thilak Naidu batting 21, Akhil batting 5, Shahbuddin 3-49)
