Failing at the party forum, Congress leader K. Karunakaran today promised MLAs of his faction that he would meet Governor Sikander Bakht on Thursday or Friday to seek removal of Chief Minister A.K.Antony.He will also submit a list naming MLAs who were supporting him.The statement came after ‘I’ group MLAs met him at his house in batches, calling for a plan of action. Karunakaran said he would meet Bakht as soon as he returned to Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Karunakaran had set Ramzan as the deadline for the removal of Antony at a rally in Kochi. Karunakaran had asked his MLAs to be present in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday and Tuesday. Today, he asked them to stay put till Friday; those moving out should be ready to reach the capital at two-hours’ notice.Political observers see a two-pronged strategy on Karunakaran’s part in keeping his MLAs around him — keep the issue on the burner while confusing the opposite camp. The veteran is yet to name MLAs from Antony’s group and other UDF allies who reportedly support him.
