Even as the troops continued searches for the holed up ultras in Ghati forests for the sixth day today, militants reportedly abducted a villager from nearby Lohai Malhar last evening.

The security forces and police parties were also rushed to Bora village in Janglote area following reports that some militants have been sighted there. The police sources, however, attributed information about movement of militants to fear psychosis among local people in view of the prolonged operation by troops in Ghati forests. With no trace of militants even on the sixth day, the local people have even started suspecting strangers moving in their area.

The security forces had cordoned Bora village and launched combing operation. Later, however, the information was found to be incorrect, police sources said and added that yesterday also, someone had informed the police about the presence of militants inside a deserted palace in Jasrota area. The police parties rushed there only to find the information to be incorrect.

Meanwhile, some militants abducted a villager from Gurah Kadyal in Lohai Malhar area last evening. Identifying the villager as Hansraj, 44, the sources said he was working at a coal kiln at that time. The police parties have been rushed to the spot to trace the abductors. Significantly, Lohai Malhar is one of the important destinations for militants who, after crossing into Kathua from across the border, pass through Ghati forests. They trek the area between Ghati forests to Lohai Malhar in one day. Meanwhile, there was no firing from the militants holed up in Ghati forests for the third consequtive day today.
