AMRITSAR, MARCH 4: Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur on Friday said she was completely devoted to the institution of Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs, and if the five Singh Sahibans (head priests) asked her to explain her position, she would readily do so.

She said the SGPC recognised the five head priests as supreme and if a collective order was issued by the priests for her to appear before them, she would immediately do so.

Kaur was ex-communicated by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Puran Singh through a controversial edict on January 25. Defying the top cleric, she offered prayers at the Golden temple on February 28 and resumed duties as SGPC President.

Puran Singh had also debarred her from working as SGPC chief till she presented herself before the top temporal authority and explain why she had "violated" the Takht directive on the Nanakshahi calendar issue.
