THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, August 1: The Kerala government has finalised a new bill which envisages setting up an apex body for devaswom boards, empowered to recommend disciplinary action. The Bill, which has been sent for the President’s assent, will replace the HR and CE Act and the Travancore Cochin Act once it becomes law. The State Government is faced with contempt proceedings by the High Court. The Bill is likely to be introduced in the next session of the State Assembly. A Malabar Devaswom Board is also proposed to be set up.
