
ERATTUPETTA (Kerala), March 23: Hosts Kerala scored a straight-sets victory over West Bengal in the men’s section of the first leg of the second National League volleyball championships here tonight. Kerala won 15-11, 15-7, 15-13.
The losers took the early lead in all three sets but failed to keep it up. West Bengal went down to Karnataka also in straight sets last night. Bengal took a 7-1 lead in their first set today, thanks to the left hand smashes of Indranlal Chatterjee. But the hosts rallied and levelled at 8-8 en route to claiming the set.
In the second set, Kerala came from behind to level 5-5 and then scored steadily to claim it at 15-7.
In the last set, West Bengal put up some resistance but Kerala played a cool game to retain control and win the match.
