NEW DELHI, July 26: New Delhi Heroes were held to a goalless draw by Collegians Club in a group A match of the Delhi Soccer Association SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship at Ambedkar Stadium here today.

Formidable N.D. Heroes dropped two valuable points when a spirited Collegians did not allow Heroes to take any territorial advantage. Collegians had an upper edge in the initial proceedings of the game but Heroes’ custodian Mukesh Kumar stood firmly under the bar and effected two fine saves. Collegians’ forwards Vikram and Navender were the culprits in

not captialising golden chances.

Heroes’ medios Vikram Bhandari and Subash Negi exchanged some good moves in the later half but forwards Neeraj Bisht and Hukum Bahadur missed easy sitters.

N.D. Heroes completed their league engagements by collecting 22 points from 11 matches while Collegians have 10 points from 10 matches and will play their last game against Royal Rangers on Wednesday.

In the other match played between Hindustan FC and Shastri Football, Hindustan won 1-0. After a barren first half, Hindustan FC took the lead in the 52nd minutes through Mohd Khalid. Now both the teams have completed their engagements. Hindustan FC have secured 31 points from 11 matches while Shastri FC have 22nd points from the same number of matches.

Both teams tried hard to make the first move towards the goal. In their attempt and eagerness to snatch the initiative, both teams fumbled at the goalmouth. However, Hindutan succeeded in taking the lead and maintaining it till the end. The league phase is expected to be completed by Wednesday. The Super League among the top teams of the various groups will then begin, according to the organisers.
