MUMBAI, July 7: First rains and then Khalsa, won the day today at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel, in the Mumbai District Football Association-organised Chhatrapati Shivaji League First Division match.
Larsen & Toubro were totally overpowered by Khalsa Gymkhana (4-0), who dominated the game from the very beginning. A free-kick awarded to Asif Sheikh in the 22nd minute put the winner’s in lead.
Twenty two minutes into the second half, Marlon Pinto’s amazing 30-yard strike into the right corner of the L&T goal put Khalsa in a comfortable 2-0 position. Pinto was again in action, when he converted a pass by Asif Sheikh in the 40th minute into a goal.
With four minutes to go, Agnello Fernandes sealed L&T’s hopes with the final goal from a pass by Padam B to take the scores to 4-0 in favour of Khalsa Gymkhana.
Earlier, rains played spoil-sport when a match between Don-Bosco Oratory B and MLWB, Naigaon was called of due to heavy showers.
