Glamour photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha, who dabbles occasionally in scriptwriting (Bekhudi), has been nursing a desire to turn filmmaker for some years now. Last year he approached Salman Khan with an offer to star in a project he was hoping to direct. Then in the throes of a ‘happening’ career, Khan didn’t respond to Rajadhyaksha’s calls. But recently the actor himself called Rajadhyaksha to check if he was still interested in working with him. Delighted at the actor’s interest, the photographer said he was and had even found a producer (UTV) who was keen to back the film. Khan, however, insisted he

would work with Rajadhyaksha but only if he was allowed to bring a producer of his own —his old friend Sajid Nadiadwala. The photographer, we hear, is still undecided about whether he actually wants to go ahead and make this film.

Sri’s back

Apparently, Yash Chopra has finally zeroed in on the cast of his latest film. The veteran filmmaker has chosen Amitabh Bachchan to topline the film, and to star opposite the Big B he has convinced Sridevi to make a comeback. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai play the younger set of lovers, while Yash Chopra-favourite Shah Rukh Khan will make a special appearance. This film, of course, will go on the floors later in the year — after the filmmaker’s three latest productions (Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Mujhse Dosti Karoge and Saathiya) have been released.

Off-screen chemistry

Bollywood couple Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have just returned from a vacation in Paris. Four months pregnant, and pretty as ever, Twinkle took a break from her interior-designing business to take off with her husband, who has just returned from a series of stage shows he did with Sunny Deol, Tabu and Preity Zinta. Twinkle, who has more or less given up films for good, refuses to do a film opposite her hubby. She says she’d much rather keep the chemistry off-screen!

Nagging Doubt

Who is likely to last longer — Kareena or Amisha?

Story continues below this ad

Vinay Anand: ‘‘I think Kareena will because she has enough strings to pull. Amisha is talented but Kareena will go a longer way.’’

Atul Kulkarni: ‘‘Amisha is choosing the right films. She has come so far in so little time. I think she will have the longer innings.’’

Aryan Vaid: ‘‘Undoubtedly Kareena. She is the more talented of the two.’’

Aman Verma: ‘‘No actress after Kajol has the clout to carry off a film by herself. It will take time for both Kareena and Amisha to reach that stage.’’
