KHARAR, Jan 25: Sukhwinder Kaur, a Dalit woman of Kurali which falls under Kharar sub-division, was allegedly molested by a head constable of the Punjab Police on Saturday night.
According to information received here today, Sukhwinder Kaur, who is mother of five children, had reported to the police that Amrik Singh, a head constable posted as “munshi” at Kurali City police post, accompanied by his associate Jaspreet Singh came to her residence, situated in Ward-2 at about 11 pm and started knocking at the door. When she along with her husband Jaspal Singh opened the door and came out, they found that both Amrik Singh and his associate were under the influence of liquor.
Kharar: It will be the first time in the history of Kharar when Tehsildar will unfrul the tricolour of the Sub-division level Republic Day function to be held here tomorrow in place of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). In the past, the SDM used to hoist thhe national flag on such days here but this time thhe post of SDM is lying vacant, following which the Tehsildar will perform this ceremony. It may be recalled that Kharar SDM Avtar Chand Sharma was transferred from here on January 1 and posted as District Transport Office (DTO) at Patiala. Since then, the post of Kharar SDM is lying vacant and no officer has been posted here so far.
Meanwhile, all arrangements have been completed for holding thhe R-Day function here tomorrow where Kharar Tehsildar Malkit Singh will unfrul tricolour at 9.55 am.
