Kharar telephones in bad shape

They complain that not getting any dial tone and telephones lying out of order have become a norm. Even emergency numbers like the police and fire brigade do not get through.Making outstation telephone calls or trunk-dialling is also problematic, as on dialling, the subscribers get to hear the "route is busy, please dial after sometime," message. The same difficulty is also being faced by outstation subscribers including the ones trying from abroad to call Kharar numbers.Subscribers have complained that very urgent massages get delayed due to the poor phone services and some times they even have to come to Mohali or Chandigarh for the business.

The recent unplanned digging to lay new cables is reported to be the cause of the prevailing condition. The digging of all major roads and streets has made the life of the residents miserable.Heaped debris can be seen lying on broken roads and streets, causing inconvenience to the public and disrupting traffic. This has led to a lot of resentment among the people. They want that the telecommunications department should lay underground cables on the pattern of the water supply and sewerage system and avoid frequent digging.

This will, they say, not only prevent wastage of public funds on the repair and maintenance of roads and streets but also save the public from inconvenience.
