NEW DELHI, January 8: The west district police have rescued a four-year-old boy from Bihar, who was allegedly kidnapped by his parents’ employer on January 1 from Nangloi. While the main accused managed to escape, the police have arrested his accomplice.
Lav Preet was kidnapped while he was playing outside his house. His father Jasbir Singh lodged a missing persons’ report. On January 3, Jasbir received an anonymous phone call, and the caller demanded a Rs 1-lakh ransom for the release of his son. He was directed to bring the cash to the Nangloi railway station. Jasbir immediately contacted the police, who registered a kidnapping-for-ransom case. He also told the police that he suspected one Sohrab, who works in his wife’s dry cleaning shop.
The police detained Sohrab, who reportedly confessed to the crime during his interrogation. He allegedly told the police that he and his cousin Abbas had kidnapped the boy. Abbas had next taken the child to Bankha district in Bihar, said Sohrab. A police team, headed by Inspector Lamba, was sent to Bihar.
On Thursday the police managed to find the boy in Abbas’ relative’s house. Abbas however managed to escape.
