PANAJI, Feb 21: If only King Momo could affix his cherubic visage on the ballot papers, professional politicians contesting next Saturday’s Lok Sabha elections in Goa will all be looking for new jobs. Goa’s famed Carnival parade with its Mascot king Momo attracted a crowd of 30,000 people, according to the police department. “Even Sonia Gandhi attracted only 5,000 people”, a police official told The Indian Express.
The three-hour-long parade consisting of 46 floats depicted several themes ranging from the mundane to the macabre passed through the city were very much in evidence. Much of the common people, who are incharge of the float committees, targeted everyone from a weathercock politician (armed with a weathercock and suitcase full of scams) to the shaky Mandovi bridge.
