The well-heeled look is back in fashion for men —the suit, not to forget the structured jacket, the slim-fit cardigan and of course, the thin tie. If you are still one of those old-fashioned dressers who believe in dressing up in conservative cuts and boorish ties, it’s time you pepped up your wardrobe. Go for a patterned tie in a sleek silhouette to liven up those boring boardroom encounters, or one in different textures other than silk. Design House Satya Paul even has a tie with Swarovski encrustings for the adventurous and the young at heart. The tweed look is a big draw this season and so are hand-made fabrics. Bright colours are in, and if you do dare, then neon’s a must have. “Essentially, slim ties take away some of the mundaneness of the formal attire and gives you a hipper, trendier look. In formal wear there’s very little leeway for outlandish experimentation. But slim ties go a long way in jazzing up things,” says designer Aki Narula.
