Castrol Honda's John Kocinski won both races in round six of the World Superbike Championship at Laguna Seca, USA to move within four points of series leader Carl Fogarty.The Castrol RC45 rider was forced to work hard in the opening race before clinching his fourth win of the 1997 championship campaign to move closer to the title lead. Kocinski was initially involved in a four-way battle with fellow Honda rider Miguel Duhamel and Ducati pair Neil Hodgson and Carl Forage. Duhamel eventually finished a distant third behind Fogarty while Hodgson crashed at Turn 2 on the 17th lap. The race win was decided after a Kocinski versus Fogarty battle over the remaining 10 laps, Kocinski taking the lead at Turn 2 on the 25th lap in a sideways, moto cross-style move.While Kocinski took victory, his Castrol Honda team-mate Aaron Slight battled from a 13th place, fourth row start position to take seventh place.Kocinski added victory in race two on his Castrol-sponsored 750 cc Honda. The talented 29-year-old took a start to finish win in the 28-lap race in front of a patriotic record crowd of 43,000. Race two was a disappointing time for kocinski's Castrol Honda team-mate Aaron Slight who finished in 10th place. Kocinski's double victory was the third for the Castrol Honda team. It gave Kocinski his 10th World Superbike win.
