The Madhu Koda Government is safe, at least till the by-election for the Simaria Scheduled Caste Assembly constituency scheduled for February 4. This became clear after a statement on Saturday by Congress party state in-charge Ajay Maken immediately after he arrived here. He said the Congress would not withdraw support to the Koda Government and added, “Right now, our attention is centered around the Simaria bypoll.”

Maken, who was handed over a report on the “performance” of the state Government by the party’s state president Pradeep Balmuchu, is slated to address meetings of the NSUI, Youth Congress and the Jharkhand State Congress Committee’s (JSCC) executive committee on Sunday.

The report, comprising assessments by the party’s in-charges of the state’s 81 Assembly constituencies, has alleged that the Koda Government has failed to come up to the people’s expectations.

Simaria seat, a Naxalite-infested constituency, fell vacant after the death of BJP’s Upendra Nath Das.
