Former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek withdrew from the tournament today just hours after the draw. The Dutchman pulled out with an unspecified injury, tournament referee Alan Mills said.

Krajicek, winner in 1996 and a quarter-finalist last year, was drawn to play a qualifier in the first round. He faced a likely second-round match against defending champion and top-seeded Lleyton Hewitt of Australia.

Krajicek’s withdrawal was announced shortly after he lost 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) to Olivier Mutis of France in the first round of the Ordina Open in Rosmalen, Netherlands. The Dutchman struggled with his game throughout and his usually dependable serve was particularly poor in the first-round defeat.
