The Prime Minister has cleared the names of V Krishnamurthy to head the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) and Arjun Sengupta as the chief of the Commission on Employment in the Unorganised Sector. The UPA government committed to set up these two commissions in the CMP.

V Krishnamurthy has worked as chairman of SAIL in the past and big ticket PSUs like Maruti and BHEL apart from a stint as the secretary Heavy Industries. Krishnamurthy was also appointed on the National Advisory Council (NAC) just a few weeks ago. Sengupta is a senior member of Congress’ Economic Cell.

The head of the Investment Commission, under the ministry of finance, is yet to be appointed.
