
PUNE, Jan 25: Kumar Gera emerged straight winner in the silver division of the Smt. Vijaya Shirke Memorial Cup at the Poona Club golf course on Sunday.
The meet, which was played categorically in the Silver and Bronze division with the modified stable ford format, saw 110 active participants.
Kumar Gera aggregated a total score of 26 points, with 10 points on the front nine and 16 on the back nine. He had 10 pars and two birdies to his account.
M Mangalamurti took the runners-up position in the same division, with a total score of 24 points, scoring 11 points on the front nine and 13 on the back nine. Following them were Sandeep Phalnikar with 23 points, Bhausaheb Patwardhan with 22 and KS Nigde with 21 points.
In the bronze division it was debutant DP Karani who clinched the winning position with a total score of 23 points. For the runners-up position there was a tie among P Tolani and Dr. Govitrikar with 22 points each. P Tolani was declared runners-up on account of his better performance on the back six hoes.
Close behind them were A Mangalamurti and Jack Treier with 21 modified stable ford points.
