Back from Vadodara after an attack on him while visiting those injured in Thursday’s Sabarmati Express accident, Railway Minister Laloo Prasad called for Gujarat CM Narendra Modi’s dismissal. Laloo, who drove straight to Parliament House from the airport to brief Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, said: ‘‘The attack was organised by Modi, and Bajrang Dal activists were involved in it. The Modi Government should be dismissed by the Centre under Article 356.’’ He also demanded Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani’s resignation for what he claimed was a ‘‘pre-planned attack’’. ‘‘I went for an inquiry and oversee the rescue work. I went as a Minister of the Central Government, it was my responsibility. Lekin udhar to, Laloo ko maro, mantri ko maro. chal raha tha,’’ he said. He added that he could identify the Bajrang Dal activists sitting atop the two mangled bogies of the train. ‘‘When I reached the hospital.they tried to lock the door from outside. They were carrying cans of petrol.’’ He said a minister in the Modi government was present at the spot and was ‘‘reporting to his boss about what was happening there’’. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad condemned the attack, but was careful to call the attackers ‘‘anti-social and mischievous’’ elements.
