With a host of Union ministers and senior leaders eager to make their presence felt in Gujarat, the Congress high command has made it clear to the state unit that no candidate should be “burdened” with any leader with no appeal in the state. Still, Union Minister Renuka Choudhury sent a missive to the state Congress expressing her willingness to campaign for the party for two days. Gujarat Congress has contacted New Delhi to find out where she should campaign. In search of a compromise, some sections in Delhi have suggested that there are pockets of Telugu-speaking population in Surat that can be targeted. The fight is on.
