At least 55 people, including 18 policemen, suffered injuries in stone-throwing by a crowd leading to lathicharge at a folk musical programme at a stadium here, police sources said on Sunday. Soon after the programme of famous Devi group opened inside the stadium on Saturday night on the occasion of Republic Day, over 7,000 people collected outside the stadium and tried to force their way into the jam-packed stadium. Prevented by police, they indulged in stone-pelting. As the situation became uncontrollable, police resorted to batoncharge. Twelve people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
