LIC staff oppose privatisation move

SHIMLA, May 27: The LIC employees of 25 branches from all over the state and the divisional office today held demonstration outside the headquarters to protest against the move to privatise the insurance industry.

The employees and the officers also held a joint meeting which was addressed by divisional president of Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association, Shimla division, A.C. Chauhan and general secretary Federation of LIC Class I Officers Association and member National Executive A.R. Sharma.

The speakers firmly opposed the decision of the Central Government to privatise the insurance industry. They emphasised the need to allow the industry to remain in public sector undisturbed so that it continued to serve their community and the national economy in fulfilling its enormous potential.
