ROOPNAGAR, MAY 21: The room housing the literacy branch office at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office was locked today following instructions from Justice K.S. Kumaran of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Justice Kumaran was here on an inspection tour of the additional civil judge court and the noise emanating from the literacy office caused obstruction in his work. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office adjoins the court.
The keys of the locked room are now in the custody of District and Session Judge Superintendent.

Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner Kulbir Singh Sidhu said the room has new been surrendered to the court and the administration has decided in principle to shift the literacy branch attached to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate office, elsewhere.
Sidhu admitted that the inspection work of Kumaran was severely obstructed by the noise emanating from the room where literacy project coordinators were holding a meeting.
Sources revealed that Sidhu was called by the Judge while the room was being locked.
