Promising revival of the handloom and powerloom industry, separate fund for women’s development, streamlining the public distribution system and implementation of the recommendations of the commission constituted for police reforms, the Communist Party of India (CPI) released its election manifesto on Monday.
CPI leaders said the party would demand scrapping of the legislator’s fund for development as it only adds to corruption. While terming the Congress manifesto as a kitchen without fire, UP in-charge Atul Kumar Anjaan said the SP has set an agenda for the coming 20 years and not for 5 years. Anjaan also said with the closure of handlooms and powerlooms, weavers are the most wretched lot in UP and none of the political parties has promised anything for them.
