NEW DELHI, October 12: Loreto School scored a thumping 42-11 win over Vasant Valley in the inauguration match of Nike-Don Bosco invitational inter-school basketball tournament at the Don Bosco School courts here today. Priyanka (14), Mahima (12) were the principal scorers for Loreto while Sakshi, with six points, top-scored for Vasant Valley.

In the boys section, hosts Don Bosco scored a convincing 64-11 win over G D Goenka School. Anmol (19) and Priyank (13) played well for the hosts while Nikhil (6) was G D Goenka School’s saviour.

Double crown for Hans Raj: Hans Raj Model School (Punjabi Bagh) claimed a `double’ winning both the senior and junior girls titles in the table tennis competition of CBSE tournament at GTB 3rd Centenary Public School, Mansarover Garden.

In senior girls’ final, Hans Raj beat Jaspal Kaur 3-0 while in the junior girls section, they beat over Bhatnagar International Public School by an identical margin. Jaspal Kaur Public School finished third.

N Rly win final: Northern Railway won the seventh All India Rajv Gandhi Football Tournament at Ghaziabad beating District Development Ministry 4-3 to claim the M L Garg trophy. Mehtab, Yashpal, Mohan Aatiq and Vimal Thapa scored for the Railways team while Jagmohan Singh, manohar and Bakim Chandra were the marksmen for the losers.

Pradeep is `BHEL Shri’: Pradeep Kumar emerged as the overall champion and was declared `BHEL Shri’ at the end of the body-building competition, organised by BHEL Sports Club at Hardwar. Over 60 body-builders in five categories participated in the competition. Pradeep Kumar finished first in 65 kg category. The BHEL inter-unit carrom competition will be held durng November 1-3 and hockey tournament from November 6 to 8, both at Hardwar.

FCI triumph: FCI began their campaign in the 10th B K Gautam memorial hockey tournament at Shivaji Stadium with a 3-0 win over Rajput Club. Gajender, Sandeep and Navbir Singh were the scorers.

Niesen baskteball: St Xavier’s School and Army Public School won their matches in the 22nd Niesen basketball tournament, beating Indira Ideal School and Mount St Mary’s, respectively. St Xavier’s beat Indira Ideal 59-45 while APS defeated MSM 46-42.
