L&T clinch one-run victory

December 15: Larson & Toubro entered the semi-finals of the Indian Airlines Cricket Tournament when they defeated Centaur Hotel by one run in a nail-biting finish. Batting first, L&T were bowled out for 109 in 29.1 overs, with J Sorkhande contributing 42 runs. In reply, Centaur Hotel were all out in exactly 30 overs for 108, with Dilip Kambli and B Sarap taking three and two wickets respectively for 18 and 15 runs.

In another match, Vijay Singh scored 43 and Rohit Rane an unbeaten 33 as Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers beat Repro Sports Club by eight wickets. Repro scored 115 all out, while RCF replied with 117 for two in 22 overs.

Saif, Simab shine: AN unbeaten partnership of 73 between Saif (52) and Nikhil (21) helped Maneckji Cooper Education Trust beat Jamnabai Narsee School in the first round of the Thums Up-ICSE Cricket Tournament, organised by Learners’ Academy. Jamnabai Narsee were bowled out for 111, with Simab capturing six wickets for 30 runs. Mancekji Cooper reached the target for the loss of six wickets.
