AHMEDABAD, Nov 16: To restrict favouritism in staff appointments to the M J Library, standing committee chairman Dharmendra Shah has asked the librarian to submit his seniority list along with the list of books purchased in the near past.
Sources in the elected wing said that Shah has been baffled with favouritism in the appointments of library staff by the elected wing and also by the administrative wing.Recently a scandal was brought to light involving appointments of various relatives of former mayors and administrative officials.
Sources pointed out that a vigilance inquiry was also going on to look into these appointments. The report is expected soon. Meanwhile, Dharmendra Shah sensing major irregularities in the seniority list prepared for promotions has asked the officials to sent the list to the standing committee.
Sources pointed out that the standing committee chairman had intentions to cross check the commissions given to the library by the book dealers. The standing committee has plans to ask the dealers to sent the exact commission given by them and if the chairman found differences in the books and the actual commission paid, the standing committee would not hesitate to take action against the concerned officials.
House burgled: Dinakarrai Chimanlal Desai lodged a complaint with Ghatlodia police that cash and jewellery collectively worth Rs 35,000 were stolen from his house in Nikita Park Society in Thaltej, between November 13 and 15 when the family was away.
