BHUBANESWAR, NOV 15: M M Rajendran on Monday took oath as the 34th Governor of Orissa in a simple function at Raj Bhavan. He was administered the oath by acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court R K Patra.

Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, Water Resources Minister Basant Kumar Biswal, Health and Energy Minister Niranjan Patnaik, Rural Development minister Kanhu Charan Lenka, several other ministers, vice-chancellor of Utkal University Prof Gokulananda Das, Chief Secretary in-charge S M Patnaik, Home Secretary Sanjiv Hota, senior officials and other dignitaries were present.

Earlier, Rajendran was accorded a warm reception at the airport on his arrival along with his wife. After the swearing-in, he met the Chief Minister, other ministers and dignitaries over tea. Andhra Pradesh Governor C Rangarajan had been holding the additional charge of Orissa.
