Even before the CBI could name her an accused in connection with the murder of Madhumita Shukla in Lucknow, the wife of Amarmani Tripathi moved an application in the CBI court for surrendering herself, ostensibly to escape ignominy of being arrested from her house in Gorakhpur.
The court has asked the CBI to furnish details by September 30 on the basis of which Madhumani apprehended her arrest in connection with Madhumita’s murder on May 9. CBI sources said since the state had no provision of granting an anticipatory bail, the surrender application is a ploy to evade her arrest. The CBI, sources said, is concentrating on jailed criminal Raju Pandey. Sources have also not ruled out the involvement of Mohan Don, a contract killer who was killed by Ghaziabad police in an encounter in August after Madhumita’s murder.
