Maharashtra today became India’s second state, after Rajasthan, to pass the long-delayed Right to Information Bill. It was passed unanimously and as soon as the President gives his nod, will allow citizens to gather information from various government departments.
The Bill’s prime mover, Anna Hazare said he did not foresee any problems with presidential assent. ‘‘If the Centre refuses to refer the bill to President, then I will not hesitate to launch an agitation,’’ he said.
