KOCHI, APRIL 10: Union Home Minister L K Advani has called upon the children to make the next century the century of India by making full use of the technological advancement, especially the Internet revolution.
Advani was speaking at the valedictory session of the two-day silver jubilee celebrations of Balagokulam here on Sunday.
If the country has failed to achieve the desired level of progress even after 50 years of Independence, it is due to the lack of proper attention in education and health sector. Organisations like Balagokulam should strive to give the right educational culture to children at the right age, he said.
Recalling his childhood days when children’s organisations strived for developing the younger generation into selfless and committed citizens, Advani said such endeavors had disappeared since 1947.
The Balagokulam will be able to produce generations of committed and dedicated children capable of making great social contributions in Kerala which had given birth to great social reformers like Sree Narayana Guru.
It is from Lord Krishna and the 5000-year-old cultural tradition of India that Balagokulam draws its strength, Bharatiya Vichara Kendram director P Parameswaran said in his keynote address.
Union Minister O Rajagopal said that though foreigners have started realising the great cultural and spiritual tradition of India, these aspects are still not included in our curriculum. If one demands that the children be taught about the contributions of our great forefathers, he is often labelled as a communalist.
Advani released two books, The Story of Vandematharam and Ananda Matham, on the occasion.
RSS state sangh chalak T V Ananthan, poet Akkitham, former vice-chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University V N Rajasekharan Pillai and former PVC of CUSAT K I Vasu attended the function.
