PUNE, Dec 14: Social worker Anna Hazare has threatened to launch a State-wide agitation from January 15, 1998, if the Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance government fails to release the list of persons who have been allotted residential flats under the Government’s `ten percent reservation scheme’ in the past 20 years. Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, Hazare also demanded that the list of all those who have been identified to be below the poverty line be released.
He warned that the activists of the Brashtachar Virodhi Janandolan (BVJ) would stage demonstrations all over the State, if both these lists were not made public before January 15, 1998. Hazare said that he had received several complaints stating that the list of persons below poverty line, recently prepared by the Government, was fraudulent. The Andolan activists had sought for these lists from the local officials time and time again, but in vain, he said.
“Every citizen has a right to procure this information. We will be invoking the `right to know’ while asking the State to direct the local official to release this information,” Hazare said.
