Man arrested for torturing his wife

SURAT, Nov 4: The Uchhal police of the district on Wednesday arrested a person for physically and mentally torturing his wife. The accused, a resident of Mograna village of Mangrol taluka, was taken into custody, after his wife lodged a complaint against him.

According to the complaint lodged by the woman, the accused had brought a mistress in the house in August and was living with her. When she argued with him on August 13, he beat her up and forced her to leave the house with the children.

But a couple of days ago, when she returned to the accused’s house, he threatened to kill her if she did not leave immediately, the complainant alleged.

The Uchhal police, when contacted, said that the accused had been taken into custody and was charged under sections 498 (a) and 504 of the IPC. The police added that investigations were still on into the case and details were being sought.
