DERA BASSI, Jan 29: The local police yesterday arrested a Panchkula resident who was reportedly carrying liquor unauthorisedly and 2,200 pouches of country-made liquor were recovered from his possession.According to DSP H S Bhullar, the police, after being tipped, put up a naka near Dera Bassi under the supervision of SHO Jassa Singh and arrested Surinder Kumar, a resident of Madanpur village, under Panchkula police station.A case under section 61,1,14 of the Excise Act has been registered at Dera Bassi police station.The DSP said that more arrests would be made on the basis of information collected during his questioning. The accused also admitted to his involvement in the smuggling of liquor from Chandigarh to Ambala over the years, he added.
