A 40-year-old man committed suicide by lighting his own pyre at a cremetorium in Adipur’s Kandla complex. The man, Haresh Advani, was said to be mentally-disturbed. The incident occurred on Thursday night.Advani, who was unemployed and divorced, went to his community’s cremation ground and told the chowkidar there that someone had died in his family.“The chowkidar went home to have his dinner. With no one in the crematory, Advani set himself ablaze. By the time the chowkidar returned, he had suffered 80 per cent burns. He was rushed to a hospital where he died,” said Gul Bellani, trustee of the Sonapur Trust.
