Man shot dead for ‘molesting’ women

A man was killed after he was shot at by the husband of a woman whom he reportedly molested near the Bandra-Worli sea link last night, police said on Monday. The complainant, Ameen Patel (29) of Prabhadevi, had gone with his wife, children and another relative to the sea link last night, police said. They were sitting on the parapet of the seafront when Ali Mohammed Umar Sheikh and three others reached the spot and attempted molesting the women of the two families, police said. When things turned nasty, Patel pulled out his licensed revolver and shot Sheikh, police said. Sheikh sustained injuries in the abdomen, and was rushed to Bhabha Hospital where he died, police added. Sheikh’s accomplices fled the scene, police said. A case of murder has been registered. But no arrests have been made so far. — (PTI)
