IMPHAL, NOV 27: Manipur Assembly Joint Secretary T Joute, who had been officiating as acting assembly Secretary, has been suspended for `dereliction’ of duty, assembly secretariat sources said on Monday.
The charges against Joute included his `failure’ to enter the correct date of appointment of the Deputy Speaker, K Rainad, to the Assembly, the sources said.
They, however, did not elaborate.
The sources said that the director of the assembly secretariat, Chourajiti Singh, has been asked to take temporary charge of the post of Joint Secretary.
Sources close to the ruling United Legislature Front said suspension of Joute from the post of Joint Secretary was `politically motivated’.
However, front sources did not want to comment anythingmore before the winter session of the house beginning here from December 1 next.
Meanwhile, security arrangments have been tightened in and around Manipur assembly complex in view of the winter session.
Assembly secretariat sources said that the personal security officer of every MLA or Minister in the state would not be allowed to enter the assembly premises from the beginning of winter session till the end.
The sources said that all security personnel, including the police and other intelligence personnel, posted at the premises would be under the command of the Chief Marshal of the assembly.
Unlike the previous sessions, the personal security officers of the ministers would not be allowed to sit in the visitors’ gallery of the secretariat during the session, sources added.
