Maya out to jam Bhaiyya cell signals

For Chief Minister Mayawati, Independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya seems a more real threat than five Kashmiri terrorists lodged in Agra’s Central Jail. Probably, this explains the shifting of the mobile jammer from Central Jail to Kanpur jail where Raja Bhaiyya has been kept.

The signal jammer had been installed at Central Jail after a cell phone was recovered from Independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari two years ago. The jammer, which was installed by Uptron Limited, had a guaranteed range of 150 metre. In practice, it works only within a 50-m radius.

According to sources, the decision to shift the jammer was taken after Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh announced that his party would do everything in its power to secure Raja Bhaiyya’s release. Agra Jail Superintendent V.K. Jain was not available for comment.
