Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shailesh Krishna said the suspension of 23 IPS officers had been revoked while the Centre had been apprised about the decision of revoking the suspension of two officers Daljit Chadhury and Mukul Goyal who were on deputation at the time the suspension orders were passed.

The suspended officers had held a slew of meetings with Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh, Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh and Chief Secretary P K Mishra over the past three days.

According to sources, the officers, during their meeting with the Chief Minister, admitted to have worked under political influence and pleaded forgiveness on humanitarian grounds. The officers are said to have given the same in writing to Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Mishra, who was investigating their suspension. The Chief Secretary, when asked, accepted that some of the officers had explained themselves in writing but denied that any affidavit was submitted.

Meanwhile, the revocation of suspensions has coincided with the transfer of Shailja Kant Mishra, additional director general (ADG) of police (Special Task Force), whose inquiry report in the recruitment scam had triggered the punitive action against the 25 IPS officers besides other junior officials. Mishra is now ADG Security and has also been given the charge of UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
