Making use of her social engineering formula which steered her to power in Uttar Pradesh, BSP supremo Mayawati tried to woo voters in Delhi, promising development of all sections and full statehood.
Addressing an election rally in the Capital’s Trilokpuri constituency, Mayawati accused the successive Governments of ignoring welfare of the dalits and the poor and said like in Uttar Pradesh, her party will ensure welfare of each section of the society in the city.
“If we come to power in Delhi and at the Centre, we will give full statehood to Delhi,” she said at the rally attended by over 15,000 people.
Attacking the Congress Government for poor law and order situation in Delhi, Mayawati said if BSP came to power it will put all the anti-social elements behind the bars.
Rebutting the allegation that BSP is a caste-based party, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said she would ensure reservation for the poor among upper castes, if her party came to power at the Centre.
“People try to label us as a caste-based party which we are not. We are not against upper caste as accused by our rivals. We want development of all sections of the society,”the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
Mayawati said she has written several letters to the Centre to ensure reservation for the poor among upper castes but nothing has been done on it.
Amid loud chants of ‘Behena ko PM banana hoga’ (Sister will have to be made the Prime Minister), Mayawati said BSP will address problems like poor power supply, electricity, sanitation and issues related to unauthorised colonies.
