CHANDIGARH, Feb 25: UT Home Secretary Anuradha Gupta today asked girl students to inculcate compassion in their personality as she advised them against the growing "I-me-myself” tendency overshadowing people in all fields.

Speaking at the annual prize distribution function of MCM DAV college in the city, she gave tips to students on the "do’s and dont’s for success" and said, "times have positively changed for the fairer sex. Still, a woman is extremely vulnerable in the system. But if you have the guts to face the odds (of which gender bias was one) and if you can learn to share and co-exist, sky is the limit for you”, she said, adding, "Its my personal experience that it is not all that easy for a woman to grow confidently in this system. Be prepared to meet the challenges with consistent hard work. You would not make any difference in this world if you flow with the tide when you enter into your professions”.

short article insert Gupta gave away prizes to the college students, who excelled in academic and extra-curricular activities. Principal of college, Sneh Mahajan read out the annual report, highlighting achievements of the institution in various fields. Justice P.C. Pandit was also present on the occasion.

Need for disaster management system stressed
"There is a need to develop a standardised disaster response system to manage mass casualties in times of natural or man made disasters." This was stated by S.S. Channy, Managing Director, Punjab Health Systems Corporation, while inaugurating a three-day workshop on development of disaster plan for Punjab. With the aim to formulate a comprehensive strategy for coping up with large-scale patient inflow following a disaster and equip the PHSC-run hospitals for meeting emergency situations, the workshop will develop general guidelines for various levels of hospitals in the state. The District Medical Commissioners and Medical Superintendents from Punjab will participate in the workshop which has been organised in collaboration with experts from AIIMS.
