LAS VEGAS, JULY 1: The Nevada Athletic Commission today kept Mike Tyson suspended and his $30 million fight purse withheld, pending a disciplinary hearing next week over his biting of Evander Holyfield in Saturday’s world heavyweight championship bout.

The commission ordered Don King Productions to provide a check for $ 29,824,600, representing Mike Tyson’s purse, to be deposited in an interest-bearing account pending the outcome of the hearing.

The Nevada attorney general’s office has yet to draw up a formal complaint over the incident on behalf of the commission, and a period of three working days must pass before the hearing may be held.

That would set the hearing for next Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest. The dreaded Tyson has waived the 30-day period he is allowed under the regulations to address a complaint so that the issue can be settled as quickly as possible.
