Taking note of the The Sunday Express report that the J&K police was probing the escape to Pakistan of a Hizbul Mujahideen commander who allegedly used the official car of a NC leader to reach Amritsar before crossing over, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today sought an inquiry report on the incident ‘‘as soon as possible’’.

‘‘I want to know how a Hizb commander managed to get a fictitious passport,’’ Muft Sayeed told reporters in Srinagar after inaugurating the new passport office building.

‘‘The escape is being thoroughly probed. Investigations are on and a few arrests

have already been made. We need to find out how a militant managed to get hold of a passport .’’

NC leader Gul Rafeeqi’s former PA Farooq Ahmad Bhat, PSO Kewal Singh and driver Sham have already been held. The police have also registered a case against Rafeeqi.
