The online lottery space seems to be getting crowded pretty fast. With Essar announcing its foray into the space recently, it is the Modi group’s turn now.

Integrated Technology Solutions Private Limited (ITSPL), the lottery division of Modi Enterprises, is slated to launch its brand ‘Sunshine Lottery’ on May 15 this year. ‘‘ We have got license for Manipur and we have pledged Rs 700 crore to the State in ten years’ time,’’ said Shreekant Gupte, CEO of ITSPL.

The initial investment will be to the tune of Rs 300 crore and 6,000 terminals will be set up in the first phase, he told The Indian Express on Wednesday.

However, anyone can buy a ticket and participate in the online lottery games from all the lottery playing States in the country. Additionally, the company will also be investing Rs 100 crore in advertising and sales promotion to build the brand.

Modi Enterprises will not only be operating in the online lottery space, they will also have a paper lottery under the same brand name. ‘‘This is basically to avoid any confusion for the customer and also to avoid getting into problems, in future, incase some other player launches a paper lottery in the same name,’’ he explained.

Gupte also claims that the pricing of the ticket will be different depending on the games. He, however, refused the reveal the format and the number of games that they are planning to launch. ITSPL will also be bidding for another license within a year.
