HYDERABAD, July 28: Former Champion Nitin Mongia took advantage of a foul committed by the defending champion R Mahesh, to score his consecutive win in the Laser category of the Doshi Ford Inland Sailing Championship at the Hussain Sagar Lake, in Hyderabad, today.Mongia who won the first race yesterday, eased through the second race by about five boat lengths.Mahesh, after the reversal in the inaugural race, put up a determined effort to level the scores in conditions ideal for the competition, and it looked like he would do so as he led the pack at the beginning. But, once he did a 360 to exonerate himself from the penalty after touching the mark, it was his Naval Sailing clubmate Mongia all the way.Mongia, winner here in 1990 and 1991, clocked 47 min 51 sec while Mahesh had a timing of 48:17 sec and was closely followed by Goutam Dutta (48:22).
