Being touted as one of the candidates to step into Greg Chappell’s shoes as Team India coach, Tom Moody was today generous in his praise for the fellow Australian. “What he was doing is probably the toughest coaching assignment in world cricket. He did a good job despite the huge pressures. His tenure might have ended abruptly, but with his experience, he still has a lot to offer,” Moody said.

Chappell is said to be in the reckoning to take over from Tim Nielsen as the head coach at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane, and Nielsen, who in turn will replace John

Buchanan as Australia coach, had said that he would like to draw on Chappell’s huge experience as a player and coach. Moody agreed with that assessment: “He definitely has a lot to offer. I am sure his vast knowledge can be benefitted from.” The Sri Lankan coach was however tightlipped about the possibility of him taking on the post with India.
