
A day after the remains of newborns and foetuses were found at a missionary hospital, more bones were dug out from the vicinity on Sunday even as two persons, including the superintendent of the facility, were arrested.
Ratlam Christian Hospital’s Superintendent Patience Williams and sweeper Jagram were arrested for allegedly concealing births through the secret disposal of bodies, Deputy Inspector General of Police Varun Kapoor told
reporters.
Gynaecologist Venu Gopalan was also detained for questioning in connection with the recovery of 391 pieces of bones of three to four newborns and foetuses from a pit behind the hospital’s operation theatre on Saturday. A total of 46 pieces of bones were dug out from the area around the pit since this morning after Jagram confessed to burying the remains on the instructions of hospital authorities.
